Emergency Sub Plans

Most definitely not something at the forefront of your mind, however, it is important to be prepared for all situations. Do you have a plan in place for personal emergencies? We all have great lessons planned for when we are present in class. We can also write detailed sub plans for planned absences. What happens if you absolutely cannot make it to school and don't have any time or energy to create sub plans for the day?

There is an easy solution, continue reading to find out where and how to create simple emergency sub plans for secondary science classrooms. Even though these have information about chemistry, they are great for all science classrooms because they are about important topics that impact our everyday lives.

When: Emergency Situation

Where: Your classroom- in-person or virtual

Who: You, your students and substitute teachers

How: choose an article, print PDF class copies of articles, print out the teacher's guide, select relevant pages for individual student copies, type up a short note about what is in the box and how to use it, create a box or safe place to house all documents and make sure the person who is responsible for knowing about your sub plans knows where the magical box of articles is. :)

How: Virtual Classrooms---create a prepared post in your learning management system with the article and an editable document using the relevant pages from the teacher's guide. You or a co-worker with access to your learning management system can post the assignment in an emergency.

Some of my favorite articles.

Hopefully, these articles will sit in a box or folder and never be needed but you will you always know you are prepared for an unforeseen circumstance.
